Fishing Boats
We provide Grady White boats for all our charter guests, ranging from 26 to 30 foot lengths. Our boats are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring they are in excellent condition. Grady White boats are renowned for their performance and reliability, they are one of the safest boats for sport fishing.
Each boat is equipped with top-of-the-line fishing gear and safety equipment, so you can fish with confidence and peace of mind. Your safety is our priority, and you will always feel secure and well cared for on board.
The Guides
Our expert guides will ensure you have an unforgettable fishing adventure. Desi Waldorf, owner of Reel Appeal and lead captain, has been fishing for over 35 years, including nearly two decades in the waters of Haida Gwaii. His extensive experience has shaped our entire team, as he personally passes on his wealth of knowledge to all our guides. With such expertise, we offer you the best chance for exceptional fishing, and a truly memorable experience.
The Fishing
Haida Gwaii is a prime destination for anglers, with millions of salmon migrating through the Northern waters each year. As they travel from the Gulf of Alaska, Haida Gwaii is one of their first major feeding grounds on the BC coastline. This makes for incredible fishing, with abundant halibut and salmon throughout the season.
Our fishing season runs from mid-May to mid-September. Halibut, lingcod, and bottom fish are plentiful all year long. Chinooks begin arriving in mid-May and continue throughout the summer, peaking in mid-June. Coho salmon typically appear at the end of June, peak in mid-July, and remain abundant through August and September, with some of the largest Coho being caught in September.
River Fishing
Salmon run in the Sangan River out front of the Resort starts mid September through to mid October, the run changes dependant on the year (fishing license required).
Whale Watching
If requested, we can accommodate Whale watching tours! Travel out in our comfortable Grady White boats while we do our best to take you to the Whales. Sightings of other marine life may include birds, seals and sea lions, making this an amazing way to see marine life and stunning Haida Gwaii scenery. Contact us and we can discuss a tour.
Fishing Rates
Up to 3 guests: $1800 per day
4 guests: $2000 per day
Special rates are available for 5 day charters.
Each charter is a 10-hour fishing day and will start at 6-7am.
Fishing gear is provided including floater suits and footwear.
Pack your own lunch and beverages.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon booking, payable by Visa, Mastercard, or e-transfer. The full balance must be paid 10 days prior to your charter.
These rates include all tackle, bait, and safety equipment. Gratuities for guides are appreciated, but at your discretion.
Please note that the vacuum packing of your catch at a local processor is not included.
Tidal Water Sport Fishing License
Please ensure you obtain your Tidal Water Sport Fishing License with a Salmon Conservation Stamp before your arrival. You can do so through Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
