Can we go crabbing nearby?
Yes! Some of the best crabbing in the world is just down the beach from Reel Appeal. You can catch crabs by setting traps on the beach during low tide or by dip netting.
Can we go fishing?
Absolutely! In addition to cabin rentals, we offer charters out of Masset Harbour aboard one of our first-class Grady White boats. The boats are equipped with top-tier fishing gear and are captained by one of our experienced guides.
Are pets allowed?
We regret to inform you that pets are not allowed on the property.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking is not permitted inside the cabins but is allowed outside on the decks. Please use the provided ashtrays, and kindly refrain from discarding cigarette butts on the ground.
Is the property oceanfront or riverfront?
The property is oceanfront, with the mouth of the Sangan River located just steps away. Guests can enjoy walks along both the river and the endless sandy beach.
Can we catch fish in the river?
Yes! The Sangan River is home to salmon runs in September and October. Additionally, Cutthroat, Dolly Varden, and Rainbow Trout can be found in the river year-round. Fishing license is required.
Can we have campfires?
Yes, each cabin comes with its own firepit. However, please be aware that fire bans or restrictions may apply during the summer months.
Is there a phone or internet service?
Cell phone coverage is limited but may be available in certain areas on the property. We also provide free Wi-Fi.
Can we request additional house cleanings?
Yes, additional house cleanings are available for an extra fee.
What should I bring?
We provide all necessary linens, but please bring toiletries, groceries/food, clothing, raingear, waterproof footwear, and any personal items and medications you may need.
Can we purchase fishing licenses at Reel Appeal?
Unfortunately, we do not sell fishing licenses. All Tidal Water Sport fishing licenses and Salmon Conservation stamp must be purchased online by the fisherman.
Is there somewhere to get our fish processed?
Yes, we can assist with taking your fish to a local processor who will vacuum pack it for you.
Is there a hospital nearby?
Yes, there is one in Masset and one in Daajing Giids, a pharmacy is also available.
Is there a grocery store?
Yes, there are Co-op grocery stores located in Masset and Skidegate (please be aware of store hours). There is also a grocery store available in Daajing Giids.
